Woman found dead at central Las Vegas apartment complex

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Police were investigating a homicide that happened early on Friday morning in the central Las Vegas Valley.

Just after 1 a.m. on May 24, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to a call of shots fired at an apartment complex at the 6600 block of W. Washington Avenue.

In the parking lot, officers found a middle-age woman with a gunshot wound to the head. Medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman as 43-year-old Arkedra Shamona Taylor. The coroner’s office said Taylor died of gunshot wounds to the head and ruled her death a homicide.

Police are checking surveillance video from the apartment complex as they look for a suspect or suspects. They have not determined whether the victim was related to the shooter.
