LAS VEGAS, NV – Cedric Crear is officially a member of Las Vegas City Council. The Ward 5 representative was sworn in by Mayor Carolyn Goodman during Wednesday’s city council meeting.
“I’m honored to be chosen by the people of Ward 5 to represent our community and this great city. I have a deep passion for this community and I’m humbled to be able to work with Mayor Goodman and the City Council to improve the lives of our residents,” Crear said.
In late March, Crear won the seat in a special election held to fill the position vacated by former councilman Ricki Barlow’s resignation in January. Barlow admitted to misusing campaign funds in 2015 and plead guilty to a wire fraud charge in February.
Crear won the 11-way election by receiving 627 of the 2,320 votes cast in the special election (27 percent). The election yielded a low turnout, with six percent of the 35,809 registered Ward 5 voters participating.
Crear’s term expires in 2019.
